For our 12th year, we are so excited to tell you about our partial list of Honorary Chairs for Halloween Heroes 2008. For the second year in a row, we are thrilled to welcome back Nnamdi Asomugha (Oakland Raiders) and Justin Fargas (Oakland Raiders). They will be joined by new Honorary Chairperson, John Bowie (Oakland Raiders). And, we will be announcing a couple of other chairs in the near future. Stay tuned ...

To help kick off our 11th year, we are thrilled to announce our partial list of Honorary Chairs for Halloween Heroes 2007. For the second year in a row, we are thrilled to welcome back Nnamdi Asomugha (Oakland Raiders) and Brandi Chastain (US Olympian). They will be joined by new Honorary Chairperson, Justin Fargas (Oakland Raiders). And, we will be announcing a couple of other chairs in the near future.

We are happy to announce that Kevin Frandsen (San Francisco Giants) and Mark Sweeney (San Francisco Giants) will join us as Honorary Chairs, along with Nnamdi Asomugha (Oakland Raiders), Brandi Chastain (US Olympian) and Eric Johnson (San Francisco 49ers).

To celebrate the 10th year of Halloween Heroes, we are thrilled to announce that we have selected a new location for the ultimate trick or treat party. It is the Exploratorium. We are so excited!! With Honorary Chairs, Nnamdi Asomugha, Oakland Raiders, Brandi Chastain, US Olympian, and Eric Johnson, SF 49ers, plus more to follow, we know that the 10th annual Halloween Heroes will be the best one ever! Lori Puccinelli Stern and Peter Stern will also be returning as Chairpersons of Halloween Heroes. And for the 2006 event, we will be raising funds and awareness for the Junior Giants Baseball Program, the flagship program of the Giants Community Fund, and the Exploratorium Children's Educational Outreach Program. Halloween Heroes is on Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at the San Francisco Zoo. We will be raising funds and awareness for the Giants Community Fund. Check our Celebrity Heroes page for an updated listing of our Honorary Chairs and Celebrity Heroes.

Our 2005 Honorary Chairs are Courtney Anderson (Oakland Raiders), Noah Lowry (San Francisco Giants), Brandi Chastain (US Olympian), and Brian Ching (San Jose Earthquakes, US Men’s National Team). They will be joined by Chairpersons Lori Puccinelli Stern, Peter Stern, and their baby Bailey Patricia Stern. Also, Honorary Chairpersons 2004, Nnamadi Asomugha, Oakland Raiders and Eric Johnson, San Francisco 49ers will be a part of Halloween Heroes 2005. Additional confirmed Celebrity Heroes include San Francisco Giant, Tyler Walker, San Francisco 49ers, Kevan Barlow and Jeremy Newberry, and Oakland Raiders Grant Irons, JP Foschi and Jonnie Morant. Dear Wender Weis Foundation for Children and Halloween Heroes supporters –

Thank you for all of your amazing support of the Wender Weis Foundation for Children (WWFC) over the years. We would not be where we are today without people like you!

In light of the recent tragedy of Hurricane Katrina, we at WWFC would like to do something to make a difference in the lives of kids in the South.

We are asking for your assistance as well. If you purchase your ticket to Halloween Heroes between September 1 and September 15, we will do one of two things:

  • If you provide us with proof of a donation ($50 or more) which you have made to the American Red Cross, or to a similar, accredited disaster relief fund, we will take 10% off of your Halloween Heroes ticket purchase price. So, instead of paying $175 for an individual ghoul ticket, you will only be paying $157.50.
  • Or, if you would prefer for us to handle this, if you send us your payment in full by September 15, either via credit card or check, we will take 10% of your purchase and donate it to the American Red Cross on your behalf.

If you have already made a donation to Halloween Heroes and would like a portion of your contribution to aid children in the South, please let us know this by October 25, and we will take a portion of your donation and donate it to the American Red Cross on your behalf.

In situations like these, there are no words to describe the devastation and loss. But, this is one way that we can all come together to try to reach out and provide some support.

In July 2005, we will be partnering with Hands on Bay Area for our third annual picnic, where children and their families, who reside in Peninsula battered women's shelters, will have the opportunity to experience a fun outdoor play experience at a local park. This will be a chance for them to feel like they have no problems or worries and just have fun at an outdoor picnic designed especially for them.

In December 2005, we will hold our 10th annual holiday party, where over 200 adults and kids, from local battered women's shelters, will be able to have a once-in-a-lifetime, magical holiday experience. For many of these families, it will be their only holiday celebration. We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Hands on Bay Area to bring these opportunity to those who otherwise would not be able to have it.

Also, we are thrilled to announce our new Foundation program called The Big Bear Project. We have begun a partnership with a few Bay Area battered women's shelters to ensure that children who reside in the shelter have access to new stuffed animals. We are also raising money so that children from the shelters can make their own special teddy bear at the Basic Brown Bear Factory. Please check out our site over the next few weeks for more information about our new program...and ways that you can participate.

In 2005, we will not be holding Holiday Heroes.
